Algeria — good to know
Algerian ATMs charge no fee, but they apply the official exchange rate. The dinar trades far more favourably for cash on the parallel market: as of summer 2026, an ATM withdrawal yielded roughly 45% fewer dinars than exchanging banknotes. The real cost of withdrawing here is not the fee, which is zero, but the rate. Note that in Algeria, currency exchange is legally restricted to authorised institutions.
